Scottish Premiership

The Scottish Premiership is the top professional football league in Scotland. It consists of 12 teams that compete each season for the championship title. Established in 2013, it replaced the previous Scottish Premier League as part of a restructuring of the Scottish football league system. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Scottish Championship, which is the second tier of football in Scotland. Teams in the Premiership play a round-robin format, where each team competes against all others twice, once at home and once away, totaling 38 matches per team in a season. The team that finishes the season with the most points is crowned the league champion. Additionally, the league’s structure allows for European competition qualification for its top teams. The Scottish Premiership is known for its passionate fan base and fierce rivalries, notably between clubs such as Celtic and Rangers.
