Greenland

Greenland is the world’s largest island that is not a continent, located between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans. It is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. Although geographically part of North America, Greenland has a distinct cultural and political identity. The island is predominantly covered by an ice sheet, which is the second largest in the world after Antarctica. Greenland’s climate is predominantly Arctic, with vast areas experiencing extreme cold and long winters, though it also features some regions with milder conditions. The capital city is Nuuk. The population is small and primarily consists of Inuit people, as well as a mix of Danish and other nationalities, reflecting a unique blend of cultures. Greenland’s economy is mainly driven by fishing, hunting, and increasingly, mineral extraction, with ongoing discussions about the impacts of climate change and the potential for resource development.
