Football

Football, known as soccer in some regions, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the hands and arms, with the exception of the goalkeepers, who are allowed to use their hands within a designated area. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, which is typically grass or artificial turf, and it includes a goal at each end.

The sport is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at the international level, organizing competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. Matches are played in two halves, and the team with the most goals at the end of the match wins. If the score is tied, the game may end in a draw or go into additional time, depending on the competition rules.

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, both in terms of participation and viewership, transcending cultural barriers and played in various formats, including professional leagues, amateur clubs, and international tournaments. It is renowned for its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and athletic skill.
