Christianity

Christianity is a monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, who is regarded as the Son of God and the Savior of humanity. It emerged in the 1st century AD in the Roman province of Judea and has since spread globally. The central texts of Christianity are the Bible, which includes the Old Testament (shared with Judaism) and the New Testament, detailing the life and teachings of Jesus, the works of his apostles, and early Christian writings.

Christianity emphasizes core beliefs such as the Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit), the importance of faith in Jesus for salvation, and the call to love God and one’s neighbors. Major branches of Christianity include Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestantism, each with distinct beliefs and practices but unified by faith in Christ. Christianity also involves various rituals, such as baptism and communion, and promotes a moral framework rooted in the teachings of Jesus. It has had a profound influence on Western civilization, culture, and ethics throughout history.
